Urdhva Dhanurasana
A full backbend lifting the entire spine off the mat. One of yoga's most energizing poses, opening the chest and strengthening the back body.
Strengthens arms, legs, and spine, opens chest and lungs, stimulates the thyroid and pituitary glands, increases energy and counteracts depression.
Lie on back with knees bent, feet flat hip-width apart. Place hands beside ears, fingers pointing toward feet. Press hands and feet, lift hips then crown of head briefly, then straighten arms to full wheel. Hold 5-10 breaths. Warm up spine with bridge poses first.
